It comes as no surprise that a good job interview is a determining factor in whether or not you get hired. Could you please tell me about yourself?
Very often this is the first question you will be asked in an interview. Because the question is rather vague, use this as an opportunity to mention career highlights as well as a few pieces of personal information. You do not need to - nor should you - go into too much detail, but your interviewer is curious about you not only as an employee but as a person. Feel free to mention family, your hobbies, how long you have been in your current position at work, etc. Make sure you only give information you are comfortable sharing.
Why are you interested in this job and this company?
This question will most certainly be asked. Use it as an opportunity to showcase your knowledge of the company, its history, vision, principles, and values. Explain how you would fit into that scheme and how your qualifications would be right for the position. You may have to do a little homework to get this answer "right" but trust us, it is worth it.
What would you say is your greatest strength? Your greatest weakness?
Your answer to these two common interview questions tells the interviewer a lot about you. Do not be shy when talking about your strengths. Tell the truth but do not boast-there is a distinct difference between being self-assured and being arrogant! As for listing your weaknesses, again, be honest but not too down on yourself. Present issues that can be fixed. A lack of knowledge about a program or topic is a good idea; you can always take a course to learn more.
What makes you the ideal candidate for this position?
Here is your chance to list your qualifications. Outline to your interviewer your career and educational highlights. You should also mention personal traits that could be attractive such as punctuality, reliableness, and a willingness to learn. Go ahead and let them know you are serious about the position and express your desire to be a part of their team.
