Job Description

As a senior subject-matter expert within HR Operations, you will act as a key point of contact for Payroll, Compensation & Benefits, social insurance, time management and workforce cost analysis.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll cycle, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing in accordance with Swiss legislation, collective labour agreements and internal policies.
  • Manage and coordinate Swiss social insurance processes, withholding tax, salary certificates, statutory declarations and year-end activities.
  • Monitor regulatory, social security and payroll tax developments and assess their impact on processes and policies.
  • Ensure consistency between time and attendance data and payroll, including working time, absences and related rules.
  • Act as a functional expert for payroll and time management systems, supporting complex cases, system configuration and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with collective labour agreements, regulatory requirements, internal controls, data protection and confidentiality standards.
  • Prepare and support internal and external audits, identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct compensation analyses and market benchmarks and contribute to the development of salary structures, variable compensation and employee benefit programmes.
  • Support pay equity initiatives and provide relevant compensation data and analysis.
  • Prepare salary review simulations and assess the financial impact of salary increases, promotions and bonus programmes.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, headcount forecasting and personnel cost budgeting.
  • Produce and analyse HR and financial KPIs, dashboards and management reports covering payroll, headcount, workforce costs and related indicators.
  • Provide recommendations and decision-support analysis to HR, Finance and management.
  • Perform reconciliations between HR, payroll and accounting data and contribute to monthly and annual financial closing activities, including personnel-related accruals and provisions.
  • Participate actively in HR transformation, digitalisation and automation projects, including the development of analytical and data-driven solutions.
  • Liaise with external partners including social insurance institutions, pension funds, insurers and public authorities.
  • Support and train HR teams and key users, maintain functional documentation and promote best practices across the organisation.

The Successful Applicant

You are an experienced Payroll professional with strong expertise in Swiss payroll, social insurance and employment-related regulations, combined with excellent analytical and financial skills.

You ideally bring:

  • A Swiss Federal Diploma in Human Resources, Social Insurance or an equivalent qualification, complemented by higher education in HR, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • A specialisation in Payroll, Compensation & Benefits or HR Controlling would be an advantage.
  • At least 5-8 years of relevant experience in a complex payroll environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Swiss social insurance, payroll taxation and employment-related regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience in HR reporting, workforce cost controlling and Compensation & Benefits.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll and time management processes.
  • Experience working with HRIS, payroll and time management systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI or equivalent solutions.
  • Strong interest in data, process automation, digitalisation and emerging technologies.
  • Previous involvement in HR transformation or digitalisation projects.
  • Experience in a multi-site organisation and/or an environment governed by collective labour agreements would be highly valued.
  • Fluency in French, intermediate English; German would be an asset
  • You combine strong analytical capabilities with accuracy, attention to detail and sound judgement. You are solution-oriented, comfortable handling confidential information and able to communicate, influence and collaborate effectively across HR, Finance, management and external stakeholders.
