Our client is looking for an experienced KYC & Onboarding Officer to take ownership of client onboarding and periodic reviews within a FINMA-regulated financial institution in Geneva. The role combines hands-on KYC responsibilities with the opportunity to improve and modernise existing onboarding and client review processes.

About Our Client

Our client is an established FINMA-regulated financial institution based in Geneva and operating within an international environment.

The organisation combines a strong regulatory framework with an entrepreneurial and agile working culture. As part of the continued development of its Operations function, it is looking to strengthen its client onboarding capabilities and further enhance its KYC and periodic review framework.

The successful candidate will join a small and collaborative team, with significant autonomy and direct interaction with several internal stakeholders.

Job Description

  • Manage the end-to-end onboarding process for a diversified client base, including private, corporate and intermediary-related relationships.
  • Review and validate new client files in accordance with Swiss AML/KYC requirements and internal procedures.
  • Verify account-opening documentation, including FATCA, CRS and withholding tax documentation.
  • Conduct enhanced due diligence on high-risk clients and PEPs, including screening, investigation of adverse findings and escalation where required.
  • Review Powers of Attorney and documentation relating to external intermediaries and asset managers.
  • Perform daily and weekly onboarding controls and ensure accounts are opened in accordance with internal standards.
  • Plan and execute periodic client reviews across the existing client book.
  • Take a leading role in addressing the existing periodic review backlog, prioritising files according to risk.
  • Track outstanding items, ageing and completion rates and provide regular progress reporting to management.
  • Identify and escalate material changes in client risk profiles arising from periodic reviews.
  • Review existing onboarding and periodic review processes and propose practical improvements.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of policies, checklists, controls and workflows.
  • Support digitalisation and automation initiatives relating to onboarding and client reviews.
  • Maintain relevant process documentation and monitoring tools.
  • Work closely with Front Office, Sales, Legal and Compliance teams to balance regulatory requirements with business needs.
  • Develop a strong understanding of internal systems and procedures and operate autonomously with limited supervision.



The Successful Applicant

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience within KYC, Client Onboarding, Client Lifecycle Management or a comparable function within the Swiss financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of the Swiss AML/KYC and regulatory framework.
  • Previous hands-on experience conducting periodic client reviews.
  • Experience reviewing PEP and high-risk client relationships, performing screening and analysing potential adverse findings.
  • Good knowledge of FATCA and CRS documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of processes and deliverables.
  • Comfortable working within a small, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Front Office, Compliance, Legal and other stakeholders and challenge appropriately when required.
  • Able to manage priorities and work effectively under time pressure.
  • Fluent French and English.
  • German and/or Italian would be an advantage.
  • Candidates must be authorised to work in Switzerland.
