Job Description

  • Acquisition and identification of new customers/sponsors and opportunities within the target market to maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities (Business Development)
  • Building and maintaining a Network with key decision makers in the industry and ensure a running business by keeping them updated on products (Account Management)
  • Coaching, managing and leading team
  • Coordination and follow up of pursued projects in cross functional teams
  • Accelerate brand awareness and demand with effective positioning, marketing assets, product education, enhancing the products competitive differentiation
  • Analyzing and being aware of the decision-making mechanisms and decision maker stakeholders at the respective target customer/sponsors ensuring thorough analysis of each client
  • Participation and attendance in industry functions such as exhibitions, seminars, association events and customer events
  • Participation in inter-functional project teams and closely following the status of pipeline products in close communication with portfolio team
  • Being very close to the market and monitoring respective trends and customer/sponsor requests and feeding this information back into the portfolio group or respective functions in the organization
  • Traveling to the key cities to generate new business opportunities
  • Periodical visits to current and potential customers/sponsors to keep a high degree of customer relationship
  • Follow-up of quotations within the set time frame
  • Co-responsible to develop and realize operative targets (innovation targets, sales targets, margin targets)
  • Analyze and provide accurate reports on the developments, achievements, and trends at regular intervals to insure achievement of objectives

The Successful Applicant

  • Educational experience within chemistry or equivalent work experience in drug discovery prefered
  • Significant experience in business development within the biotech/pharma industry
  • Existing global network and a proven track record of tangible, commercial success
  • High level influencing and negotiation skills
  • Effective communication skills (also online) and good command of English
  • Flexibility to travel when necessary
  • Profit-minded and customer oriented personality who can turn difficult situations into great benefit and advantage
  • Entrepreneurial character and attitude
  • Able to work independently and under pressure in an ambiguous start-up atmosphere
  • Continuous self-education with regard to available portfolios and technology platforms
  • Self-driven, ambitious, dynamic individual, able to perform under highly stressed situations
