The Finance and Accounting Officer will play a critical role in managing financial processes and ensuring accurate accounting records within the not-for-profit sector. This temporary position (3-month contract to start with) is based in Geneva and requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Job Description

The key responsibilities of this Finance and Accounting Officer will be to :

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and budgets for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Support payroll processing and related accounting tasks
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Collaborate with team members to streamline financial workflows
  • Provide financial data and analysis to support decision-making processes
  • Contribute to the preparation of audit documentation and liaise with auditors as needed

The Successful Applicant

A successful Finance and Accounting Officer should have:

  • Educational background in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English; additional languages are a plus
  • Experience working in the NOT FOR PROFIT sector is advantageous
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a high level of accuracy
