Job Description

Marketing position with great potential for growth and career development. Purpose is:

1: To commercialize the client's brand assets by licensing rights to third parties in different industries. This position is a confluence of commercial, marketing, finance, brand and legal functions, therefore requiring a strategic and holistic approach. Given the scope of responsibility, frequent interaction with high-level internal stakeholders from a variety of businesses and functions, as well as external C-level senior management is necessary, therefore, highly developed relationship building, sales lead generation, contract management and stakeholder focus skills are required

2: To protect the client's brand assets through:

  • Managing the internal merchandise e-commerce platforms, providing approved branded merchandise to our client's group companies
  • Fit-for-purpose trademark portfolio and adequate enforcement to review, consider and provide steer for brand protection activities across the company

Accountabilities of the position:

Brand Licensing:

  • New Business Development: Work with Licensing Agent and Independently on finding, evaluating and contracting new Licensees

  • Operations: Strengthen Licensing operations, by implementing fit-for-purpose processes for Licensee due diligence, product approvals, contract management, royalty invoicing, assurance activities

Brand Protection:

  • Oversee management of 4 Merchandising staff, who manage the branded merchandise e-commerce and direct platforms

  • Manage trademark enforcement including review of and decisions on proposals from Intellectual Property and Legal (infringements, oppositions, etc.)

  • Monitor & evaluate trademark management information and return on investments

Special Challenges

  • Generate revenue and meet stretched targets through brand licensing within an organisation still relatively unfamiliar with licensing of intellectual property intangibles, and ensure buy-in from top management through demonstration, persuasion, influence, and negotiation
  • Increase merchandise sales through building top product offerings and customer service, rather than mandated usage via policy
  • Ensure consistency in the development and implementation of brand management strategies across international boundaries with widely varying intellectual property protection laws, attitudes, and regulatory environments

The Successful Applicant

We are searching for a Seasoned Marketing professional with a strong background working with Brand Licensing and Brand Protection; must be familiar with sales lead generation and conversion processes.

- Commercial Acumen: must be fluent in the language of business opportunities and delivery
- Effective communicator: must demonstrate ability to take complex subjects and easily distil concepts across broad audiences
- Seasoned networker: must be able to navigate the intricate web of key influencers across the company, building key relationships whilst enjoying the confidence and endorsement of the VP Brand
- Sense of Organisation & Effectiveness: must not be intimated nor enslaved by process, finding ways to simplify towards better, more efficient delivery
- Courageous: demonstrated ability to use failure as a powerful learning tool
- External ethos - ability to use global thinking as underlying sentiment to inform beliefs about brand management
