About Our Client

Our client is a international organization with Swiss HQ and high growth trajectory (and plans). In order to support a key initiative related to their data strategy we are looking to speak with experienced data professionals, available to start soon for at least 12 months.

Job Description

As Lead Data Strategist, you will take ownership of the strategic direction for a specific business domain, acting as both consultant and domain expert. Working closely with leaders across Finance, Operations, Data Engineering, and Analytics, you'll guide initiatives from concept through delivery-ensuring that the organisation's investment in data directly supports growth, efficiency, and innovation.

Key responsibilities include:

Domain Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and drive the data strategy and roadmap for your assigned domain, ensuring alignment with wider organisational objectives.
  • Partner with business leaders to understand priorities and translate them into a clear, actionable delivery plan.



Use Case Identification

  • Proactively identify pain points, optimisation opportunities, and value drivers where data, analytics, or machine learning can unlock meaningful business impact.
  • Prioritise use cases based on ROI and feasibility.



Business-Technical Translation

  • Act as the primary translator between business objectives and technical teams.
  • Convert strategic requirements into precise user stories, functional specifications, and deliverables.



Data Culture & Adoption

  • Promote data literacy and act as an evangelist for data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Support stakeholders in understanding emerging capabilities and best practices.



Performance Measurement

  • Collaborate with business domain owners to define KPIs, monitor adoption, and track the ROI of data products and solutions.
  • Ensure data initiatives deliver sustained, measurable value.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic thinking, analytical expertise, and stakeholder leadership.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Strong background in data strategy, data product management, or senior analytics roles, with demonstrable impact on business outcomes.
  • Excellent commercial understanding, with the ability to navigate operational and financial drivers of a domain.
  • Proven capability to communicate complex data concepts to non‑technical leaders and articulate business needs to technical teams.
  • Hands‑on experience managing backlogs, roadmaps, and agile delivery cycles.
  • Track record of building trust and influencing senior stakeholders within a matrix environment.
  • Solid understanding of modern data platforms (cloud data warehousing, BI tools, analytics solutions) and their real-world application.
  • A proactive, curious mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions and drive initiatives independently.
