About Our Client

Our client is multinational company in the electrical engineering sector. The company is organised in several global business units and we are recruiting the Sales Manager for Switzerland for one of these business units.

Job Description

In this role you would be responsible from the sales perspective over a portfolio of products that can be divided in two categories. The largest part (approximately 75% of the business) is with customised products, designed to client's specifications that are directly sold to key accounts (15-20 companies across Switzerland in the power, railway, electronics and process industry among others). The smaller part (approximately 25%) are standard products sold through distributors.

The position is an individual contributor role that reports directly to the Country Manager Switzerland and functionally to the Division Sales Manager Europe.

In this position you will have interaction and support from peers from the other business units as well as the product marketing specialists, both at European and Global level. You will have as well the support of an inside sales team, based locally in Switzerland.

The Successful Applicant

We are searching for an experienced Sales Manager / Key Account Manager / Sales Engineer with 5 to 10 years of proven track record in technical sales in an industrial environment.

We are open in terms of the technical background of the candidate, but definitely an educational background and previous experience in the electrical engineering field would be an advantage and a preference in the selection criteria.

The job will have a balance between developing business and increasing the presence in existing accounts and as well as penetrating into new accounts. Hence we are looking for a sales professional that has skills and experience in both types of sales scenarios, including the identification, qualification and developing of new prospects.

A significant part of the business is project based, hence we expect that the candidate brings experience in this type of project management environment. A background in distribution sales and experience in managing a distribution network would be an asset.

The hired candidate will be familiar with the Swiss market and have a strong understanding on the business habits in Swiss companies or multinational companies based in Switzerland.

We are looking for a candidate with a solid business acumen and who is very good in building a strong relationship with customers. In terms of additional skills we expect excellent communication and negotiation skills as well as a strong customer orientation.

In terms of attitude, we are looking for a committed person, hard worker and keen learn about the product portfolio and the technology behind and as well interested in technical and market trends (innovation pipeline, evolution of customer needs, competition offering).

You would cover the entire Swiss territory and your main working language will be German / Swiss German. English is the corporate language of the company and we expect you have a fluent English level. A good level of French is required for the role as well.
